HI, I’M ANNALISE’S DAD.
In August of 2019, my daughter was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer known as DMG h3k27m. At that time, I decided to step away from my Creative Director job of 10 years, so I could pour all my heart and energy into her fight. As a storyteller, I was compelled to document her journey. This led to the creation of amazingannalise.com – a digital version of the "Memory Book" her Speech Pathologist gave her. I wanted Annalise to have a place where she could go and see how far she had come and always be reminded of how strong and truly loved she is. Sadly, Annalise left her body on February 26, 2020, just 3 months shy of her 10th birthday. Going forward, I'll continue to use this site to honor her beauty, bravery and grace, while also raising awareness and funds for research in the fight against pediatric brain cancer. As for the next chapter in my storytelling career, this kind of thing changes you forever, and at this time, I’m searching for something. I don’t know what I'll do next or when I'll get to it, but whatever it is, I'll go forward with her love guiding my way.
#SupportCBTN - In May of 2021 I worked with the Children’s Brain Tumor Network at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to create this documentary. This was an incredibly difficult task both emotionally and technically. This was at the height of Covid, so most of the interviews were conducted over Zoom. I used After Effects and Premiere to craft the story from all the interviews I conducted. I’m proud of this piece and I hope it has helped the cause in some way. Most of all, was able to share Annalise’s story and share her light while shining a light on a very unique and inspiring organization, cbtn.org .
